At Gainsborough Parish C.E. Primary School, history is taught across the curriculum (e.g. literacy, guided reading) as well as discretely. We believe this helps children to develop the ability to think historically, apply their skills and find answers to questions about the past.
Teachers ensure lessons are stimulating and engaging to deliver a broad and relevant history curriculum to all of our children. Inspiring interests and providing real-life, hands-on experiences is highly valued, so where possible educational visits or visitors are used to do just this and extend our history curriculum. Children have had the opportunity to visit places such as Tattershall Castle, Lincoln Castle, The Jorvik Viking Centre and The Holocaust Centre.
